St. Alphonsa Syro-Malabar Catholic Parish is a Malayalee Catholic Community in greater Vancouver BC region. Started in the year 1997 as a small prayer group with just few families in Surrey Delta region, it has grown substantial to be called as a community today. With an estimated more than 350 Catholic families belonging to this community, it has grown stronger and much more vibrant. Community now gathers regularly on every Sunday of the month to celebrate Qurbana (Malayalam Holy Mass) at St. Bernadette Parish, Surrey.
St Alphonsa Syro Malabar Catholic Parish was formally instituted – by Archbishop Michael Miller and Bishop Mar Jose Kalluvelil on Aug 7th, 2016.
Fr. Jimmy Puttananickal, was the first official parish priest of St. Alphonsa parish followed by Fr. Thomas Kalariparambil, Fr. Sajy Thomas. Fr. Thomas Venmanthara is the current parish priest of this parish. Fr. Babu, Fr. Ajin, Fr. Regi Mathew and Fr. Jijimon are also big contributors to this community.
